Privacy Policy

We care about your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how you can control it.

Last updated: May 3, 2026

1. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create a Ranken account, we collect your name, email address, and a password. If you choose to connect a third-party service (such as Google), we receive basic profile information from that provider.

Content You Create

We store the blog posts, drafts, media files, and other content you create or upload through Ranken. This content is stored securely and used solely to provide the service to you.

Usage Data

We automatically collect information about how you interact with Ranken, including pages visited, features used, time spent, and error logs. This helps us improve the product and diagnose issues.

Device & Technical Data

We collect your IP address, browser type, operating system, and device identifiers to ensure compatibility, security, and performance of the service.

Payment Information

If you subscribe to a paid plan, payment is processed by our third-party payment processor (Stripe). We do not store your full card details on our servers.

2. How We Use Your Information

Providing the Service

We use your information to create and manage your account, deliver the features you request, and send transactional communications such as password resets and invoices.

Improving Ranken

Aggregated and anonymised usage data helps us understand how people use the product, which guides our roadmap and engineering decisions.

AI Features

When you use AI-assisted writing features, your content prompts may be sent to third-party AI providers (such as Google or xAI/Grok). These providers are bound by data processing agreements that limit how they may use this data.

Communications

With your consent, we may send you product updates, tips, and marketing emails. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in those emails.

3. Sharing Your Information

Service Providers

We share data with trusted vendors who help us operate Ranken, including cloud hosting (Replit), payment processing (Stripe), email delivery, and analytics. These partners are contractually obligated to protect your data.

Legal Requirements

We may disclose information when required by law, regulation, or valid legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Ranken, our users, or others.

Business Transfers

If Ranken is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your data is subject to a different privacy policy.

No Selling of Data

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for their marketing purposes.

4. Data Retention

Active Accounts

We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service.

Account Deletion

When you delete your account, we remove your personal data and content within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or legitimate business purposes (e.g., billing records).

5. Security

Technical Safeguards

We use industry-standard encryption (TLS/HTTPS) for data in transit and encryption at rest for stored data. Access to user data within our team is role-based and limited to what is necessary.

Your Responsibility

You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure. We recommend using a strong, unique password and enabling two-factor authentication when available.

6. Cookies & Tracking

Essential Cookies

We use essential cookies to keep you logged in and maintain your preferences. These cannot be disabled without breaking core functionality.

Analytics Cookies

With your consent, we use analytics cookies to understand usage patterns. You can opt out via your browser settings or our cookie preference centre.

7. Your Rights

Access & Portability

You can export your blog content and account data at any time from your dashboard settings.

Correction & Deletion

You can update your account information at any time. You may request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us at privacy@ranken.io.

GDPR & CCPA

If you are in the European Economic Area or California, you have additional rights including the right to object to processing, restrict processing, and lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

8. Children's Privacy

Ranken is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with their information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you by email or through an in-app notification at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Continued use of Ranken after that date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
